Where to check for school and work suspensions
The only official authoritative source is the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration — don't rely on things forwarded online
This guide is for Taiwan.
01 What to do now
- 01
Official website: the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration's "Natural Disaster Work and School Suspension Inquiry" section
- 02
For full-day or morning suspensions, announcements are usually made between 7pm and 10pm the night before; if the storm strengthens overnight, they're made by 4:30am at the latest; afternoon suspensions are announced by 10:30am the same day
- 03
The announcement applies to government agencies and public/private schools at every level; special-duty units such as transportation, police, fire, coast guard, and hospitals may use somewhat different criteria
02 Common myths
Only checking messages forwarded on social media or LINE groups: these are often outdated or about a different city/county — always defer to the official website
Assuming the suspension standard is the same nationwide: each city/county's head decides independently — check the one where you actually are
